This piece represents one member of the Terracotta army of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. This army of life-sized sculpted figures was buried with the Emperor to protect him in the afterlife. There were more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses.
